Good Jobs Challenge
The Central Ohio Manufacturing Partnership (COMP) is participating in the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) Good Jobs Challenge. This project is designed to help manufacturers solve their workforce challenges through recruiting, training, upskilling, and placing individuals in quality manufacturing jobs. Using local partners to better engage a diverse population’s interest in manufacturing, COMP will implement an entry-level learn and earn program with a strong career pathway (WorkAdvance). Through this grant opportunity, COMP Members have a pipeline of qualified candidates and the ability to upskill incumbent workers, both without any cost. Likewise, Ohioans do not incur any costs associated with the training they participate in; giving them access to better career options and better lives. COMP has partnered with the Manufacturing Extension Partnership at Columbus State to put together a three week training program called Manufacturing Ready to get participants qualified for entry level careers in manufacturing. The program includes:
The targeted jobs aligned with the program include machine operator, press operator, assembly, and general production. During the three-week program, participants will attend classroom/lab training four days a week and receive a "realistic" job preview via facility tours one day per week. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn the industry certification SMEs Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA). CLICK HERE to Learn more about Manufacturing Ready |
